Over recent years music has taken more of a prominent role within our curriculum. The skill of learning a musical instrument is beneficial in many ways and the activities established by school to support the development of music will be further increased this year.
We are delighted to announce that this year all pupils in year 3 will receive tuition in a musical instrument, with the overall aim that some of the pupils will continue to learn the instrument as they move into years 4, 5 and 6 and into secondary school.
Throughout the year all pupils in year three will receive tuition on the recorder, the violin and the ukulele. This opportunity to sample a range of instruments should help pupils to recognise the variety of instruments that can be played in school and that they have the talent to do it.
This move to provide musical tuition for pupils builds upon the weekly music tuition pupils in reception, year 1 and year 2 receive throughout the year and will be a great way for our pupils to become further involved in the music work provided by the Tees Valley Music Service.
